Caleb Wilson feels less like a completed basketball player and more like the first glimpse of a rare archetype still forming. At 6'9 with truly unique mobility and elasticity, Wilson occupies that increasingly coveted space between positions where traditional labels begin to lose meaning. There's stretches where his athletic range feels almost mythic, covering ground in ways that make possessions appear smaller than they actually are, building upon his staple of motion and disruption...but...there's always a "but". His projection remains the fascinating variable in this whole thing. Is he a defensive ace? Will the shooting actually uptick? Can he actually be a cornerstone? While I personally think he's more of a project than advertised, the tantalizing upside is just too much to overlook. 

PROS

  • Multi-faceted two-way forward who should impact the game on both sides of the ball
  • Top tier athleticism, fluidity plus power
  • Exceptional feel on cuts against ball watching defenders
  • Potential connective playmaking at the next level
  • Showcases soft touch on his midrange jumper with potential to stretch it further out
  • Elite helpside interior/perimeter roaming forward

CONS

  • More of a highlight defender than a sound defender
  • Still developing as a perimeter shooter but mechanics are not broken
  • Relies strongly on athleticism versus actual touch/feel
  • Stationary connector but questionable passer on the move
  • More of a finisher than a creator
