Calculated as all can be, Labaron Philon plays with the confidence of someone my mom would describe as, "He already been here before". Sure, he isn't the loudest athlete on the floor, nor does he overwhelm opponents with burst or power or theatrical shot-making BUT...what separates Philon from many young guards is the economy of his decision-making. There is very little wasted movement. He consistently values the correct read over the spectacular one, orchestrating possessions at whatever BPM vitalizes his melodies. His game is rooted in feel, and feel remains one of basketball's rarest currencies. Really, the questions surrounding his projection are less about processing and more about physical advantage. Can he consistently create separation against NBA athletes? Will his scoring arsenal carry over? I truly don't know but man...that subtle hesitation where he freezes a defender's hips, harmonizes it into an extra dribble, spin move, pump fake, step through...CASH. Yeah... momma he definitely been here before.
